Time for a comedy break: Spike Milligan destroys the 1994 British Comedy Awards

Spike Milligan and the Prince of Wales were actually very close friends. After the show, Milligan faxed him, saying “I suppose a knighthood is out of the question?”, to which the Prince suggested he try grovelling a bit. While many people were shocked at the time, it was all in good fun between friends, and in 2000 Spike Milligan was made a Knight Commander of the British Empire (KBE). It had to be honorary because of his Irish citizenship.
