commemorating the 1959 Tibetan uprising against the People’s Republic of China.

Update: In his speech today on the anniversary of the 1959 Tibetan uprising, the Dalai Lama resigned as the political leader of Tibet’s government-in-exile. He said “…Tibetans need a leader, elected freely by the Tibetan people, to whom I can devolve power.” He vowed to continue to push for Tibetan freedom in his role as Tibet’s spiritual leader.
