It’s cliche, but a picture is worth a thousand words.

85-year-old Julia Botello is escorted away from a bank foreclosure protest in Los Angeles (article here: 85-Year-Old-Woman Arrested for Bank Protest ). The two officers, complete with riot helmets, are doing their duty to protect the monied interests from her. I’m surprised they don’t have their guns drawn.

Yes, I know, they’re only doing their job, yadda, yadda. There is still something disturbingly wrong about this photo.

The problem is that even during the protests of the sixties (and I was there) there was more communication between the police and the protesters than there is today. And god forbid they should cut an 85 year old any slack.

Ah, come on! She has terrorist written all over her!! But then she is also disturbingly reminiscent of Mrs. Claus.
